{"id":5013,"date":"2018-07-24T11:37:32","date_gmt":"2018-07-24T19:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/?p=5013"},"modified":"2018-07-26T11:29:00","modified_gmt":"2018-07-26T19:29:00","slug":"osu-student-wins-graduate-student-of-the-year-from-orite-and-ite-western-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/osu-student-wins-graduate-student-of-the-year-from-orite-and-ite-western-district\/","title":{"rendered":"OSU student wins Graduate Student of the Year from ORITE and ITE Western District"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5017 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Kayla-Award-e1532633118597.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p>OSU graduate student and a PacTrans UTC Student of the\u00a0Year Award winner, Kayla Fleskes, was recently selected to receive the Graduate Student of the Year Award from both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonite.org\/\">Oregon Institute of Transportation Engineers (ORITE)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/westernite.org\/\">ITE Western District<\/a>. She will be accepting her awards later this summer.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Both the ITE Western District and ORITE\u2019s Graduate Student of the Year Awards recognize incredible dedication to the transportation profession, with ORITE further supporting that passion by offering one undergraduate student and one graduate student a $2500 scholarship each per year.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla, who had previously acted as the president of OSU\u2019s ITE Student Chapter, recently defended her thesis and graduated from OSU with an MS in Civil Engineering. In addition to these accomplishments, she has also been welcomed on board by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dksassociates.com\/\">DKS Associates<\/a>, a transportation planning and engineering firm, as a consultant.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla previously worked with DKS Associates as a transportation planning intern.
