{"id":5463,"date":"2019-04-24T10:56:56","date_gmt":"2019-04-24T18:56:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/?p=5463"},"modified":"2019-04-24T10:56:56","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T18:56:56","slug":"transportation-forecasting-competition-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/transportation-forecasting-competition-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Transportation forecasting competition award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5464 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Jeff-Ban-grad-students_cropped-e1556132184852.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"276\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to analyzing transportation data, a team of CEE graduate students from the <a href=\"http:\/\/faculty.washington.edu\/banx\/research.html\">intelligent Urban Transportation Systems (iUTS) Lab<\/a> went the extra mile. <!--more-->Actually, they went 2,300 miles to Washington D.C., where they received fourth place at the <a href=\"https:\/\/ta.itss-ieee.org\/transportation-forecasting-competition-transfor-19-call-for-participation-2019-trb-annual-meeting-workshop\/\">Transportation Forecasting Competition (TRANSFOR\u00a019)<\/a> in January 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Leading up to the competition, the UW CEE team, iUTSgo, received second place for the accuracy of their transportation predictions during the first round of the competition, where they competed against 31\u00a0student teams to predict\u00a0the average speed for a segment of roadway in the city of Xi&#8217;an, China.
