Seattle, WA \u2013 August 3-8, 2025<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\nWA Transportation Camp is a one-week residential high school summer program covering transportation topics such as urban planning, traffic safety, supply chain logistics, and the realm of connected and autonomous vehicles. Students worked on real-world challenges, connected with UW and WSU faculty, and industry professionals, and experienced firsthand how transportation shapes our communities and daily lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The primary objective of the program is to increase the number of students pursuing advanced degrees and careers in STEM-related fields associated with transportation. This mission emphasizes a commitment to:<\/span><\/p>\n\n- Encouraging students from all walks of life to consider pursuing a career in transportation<\/span><\/li>\n
- Increasing awareness about the different career paths available in the transportation industry<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

This year\u2019s program highlights included:<\/span><\/p>\n\n- Field visits to the Amazon Fulfillment Center, NW Traffic Management Control, PACCAR Test Center, and other local infrastructure sites<\/span><\/li>\n
- A presentation from WA Secretary of Transportation, Julie Meredith, titled \u201cChanging the world through transportation\u201d, where she shared her own journey through transportation<\/span><\/li>\n
- Student presentations showcasing creative solutions to transportation challenges in their neighborhoods<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The 2025 program was sponsored by PacTrans and WSDOT and was offered free of charge to all participating students. Both camps welcomed ~40 high school students. A huge thank you to our dedicated faculty, staff, and student chaperones for making this camp possible.
