About PACW
PACW's mission is to collaborate with the President to improve the state of and environment for all UW women. Specifically, we serve all members of the UW community by focusing on issues of women at:
- UW Seattle, Bothell, and Tacoma
- Medical Centers
- and UW Alumni
The President's Advisory Committee on Women was established in 1996 by President Richard McCormick. The committee is charged with four tasks:
- Identify issues of concern to women at the University;
- Disseminate collected information on the status of women;
- Advise the President concerning issues relating to women; and
- Make recommendations to the President for improving the status of women faculty, staff, and students.
Members are appointed by the President and include student, faculty, and staff representatives.

Policy Recommendations
PACW provides recommendations to President Emmert on UW policies relating to women. PACW interprets this charge broadly and has given input on topics ranging from child care to union agreements. If there is a UW policy that you feel impacts women unfairly, please submit a brief summary of the issue to PACW's research assistant and the committee will review your submission to determine if it is within our purview.
Events
If you are putting on an event that UW women should know about, let us know! We are happy to send event listings out on our listserve and through our formal and informal networks.
