Physical Activity Policy Research Network (PAPRN)

In 2004, the CDC established this national research network to increase our understanding of policy tools that may be enlisted to increase physical activity as a preventive health strategy. In 2007, two additional years of funding were secured for the network. Saint Louis University serves as the lead center, with Harvard, San Diego State University, University of Hawaii, University of North Carolina, University of South Carolina, West Virginia University, and the University of Washington (UW) participating. Prevention Research Centers from the University of South Florida and the University of Colorado participate in the network as affiliate member centers.

The UW Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) facilitates this research effort. Our approach is broadly inclusive of community organizations, agency staff, and researchers from a variety of academic specialties. We hold meetings the first Tuesday of each month at the HPRC conference room at 1107 NE 45th Street, Suite 200 in the U-District.
