Research interests include virus-host interactions, with a particular emphasis on hepatitis C virus (HCV). Current NIH funded research projects focus on the effects of inflammatory chemokines such as interleukin 8 (IL-8), and its induction by HCV, inhibition of interferon (IFN) antiviral action, and direct effects on HCV replication. We are also part of a NIH funded, multi-institute HCV Cooperative Research Center, which is focusing on innate and adaptive control of acute hepatitis C.
