Who are DPP Leaders and Staff?

Dr. Ann Vander Stoep
Principal Investigator

Dr. Vander Stoep is a child psychiatric epidemiologist and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences with an adjunct appointment in the Department of Epidemiology.

Her research interests include: developmental epidemiology of adolescent depression, mental health status of children in the juvenile justice system, transition to adulthood for adolescents with psychiatric disorders, promising children's mental health interventions, and participatory research.

Dr. Elizabeth McCauley
Principal Investigator

Dr. McCauley is a clinical psychologist who is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and is currently the Acting Chair of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has an adjunct appointment in the Department of Psychology.

Dr. McCauley's research interests include etiology, clinical course, family interaction, and prevention of adolescent depression, neuroendocrinology, psychosocial aspects of Turner's syndrome, and the psychosexual development of children born with ambiguous genitalia.

Kelly Thompson
Principal Investigator

Kelly is the person who often calls families to check in after an interview if a student is stressed. She also works closely with the schools to create a strong partnership between Seattle Public Schools and Developmental Pathways Project.

Omar Barraza
Interview Coordinator

Omar coordinates scheduling all the interviews, and training and deploying all of our interviewers.

Elena Kuo
Principal Investigator

Elena coordinates the yearly screening program for stress for 6th and 8th graders, and she also helps to analyze all of the information we get and write papers.

Mel Currier
Data Entry

Melanie is in charge of data entry and checking for data quality to make sure all of the information from DPP families is organized and useful to researchers.
