NSF Requires Section on Mentoring in Grant Proposals.  The American COMPETES Act of 2007 requires that all NSF grant applications that include funding for postdoctoral fellows contain a description of mentoring activities. The University of Washington Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) provides services to postdoctoral scholars and to their faculty supervisors. The OPA works to enhance the learning and the productivity of UW postdocs and offers assistance to both postdocs and their mentors to advance the role and work of postdoctoral scholars on the three UW campuses.
