In this workshop we will address some good practices for
designing and delivering messages. Starting with the assumption that a written
message is quite different from a spoken one, we will address some techniques
for preparing a presentation that can be easily remembered, discuss how to get
the most out of your data in oral presentations, and conclude with some delivery
practices that should lower your stress level while making you sound more
natural and confident. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring a
presentation they are currently working on (or an idea for a talk that they will
have to work on in the future).

Everyone knows that having your own training grant or
fellowship as a graduate student or postdoc is an excellent step to starting
your science career. But in today's competitive grant market, how do you make
your proposal stand out from all the others? What sources of funding exist for
young scientists? And what do you need to know about the new NIH K99/R00 award
for postdocs to help you submit a winning proposal?
This event is open to graduate students and postdocs at The
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington. It is
brought to you by The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Student-Postdoc
Advisory Group, the University of Washington's Office of Postdoctoral Affairs,
