Applying To Pediatric or Combined Medicine/Pediatrics Residencies
General information:
Pediatrics:
Most programs for pediatric residencies are “categorical” or three years of pediatric training.
For some people who wish to make research an integral part of their career in a pediatric subspecialty, there are combined/shortened training options. Pediatric subspecialty training is 3 years after you finish your residency training.
Medicine/Pediatrics:
Combined Medicine and Pediatric residency programs are 4 years long. Residents complete two years in each specialty and are eligible to take board certification in either field.
