Please report to Institute for Learning & Development at 9:30 a.m. on the first day of your clerkship.  The Information Desk, located on 3K (near the hospital entrance located on MLK Jr. Way) will either direct you to the Jennifer Maya in ILD or they may call the office at extension (253)403-1848.

Expenses
Please note that the University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics may reimburse you for housing, transportation, and other expenses incurred by you during this clerkship.

Housing and Meals
MultiCare provides a discount to students on meals and espresso bar purchases.    Housing will be provided for you.  You do not need to confirm your housing.  The housing consists of a studio apartment or a one 1-bedroom apartment with two twin beds.  We will provide you with linens and towels (hospital).  There is a TV with Cable and internet access in each apartment, coin-op laundry facilities are also available.  Each apartment has a phone however, the phones do not call out other than to hospital campus extensions.  You can receive calls in and if you want to call long distance you will need a calling card.  On the day of your arrival, you will be given the key to your apartment and shown where it is located.   If you require check in prior to the first day of your rotation, you will need to make arrangements at least one week in advance by calling Jennifer Maya at (253)403-1848.

Final Exam
Required text is “Blueprint Pediatrics”, 4th Edition”.  Jennifer May has available copies of the recommended pediatric texts available for your use during this rotation. At the conclusion of the clerkship, an exam will be administered on site.

Rotation schedule

Each student will spend 2 weeks on an outpatient rotation through our pediatric specialty clinics, private pediatric offices and the Mary Bridge Emergency Department.  Each student will also spend 4 weeks working on the inpatient service.  Additional information regarding daily schedules and the facility will be provided on the first day of your clerkship.  If you have questions, please call Jennifer Maya, MultiCare ILD Office, at (253) 403-1848, or Carla Salldin, U of W Pediatric WWAMI Program, at (206) 987-2063.

Directions to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Center

From Seattle, South King County
Southbound on I-5, take the City Center Exit 133 onto I-705 (Spur Freeway).
Follow directions to Schuster Parkway, exiting at Stadium Way. Turn right onto Stadium Way. Follow approximately ½ mile, turning left onto Division Ave. continue on Division for 5 blocks. Turn left on M L K Jr. Way. Free parking at MultiCare Garage, West side of street, next to the Baker Center.

From Olympia, Southwest Washington
Northbound on I-5, take the Bremerton/Gig Harbor Exit 131. Continue over the Nalley Valley viaduct and take the Sprague Ave. Exit to the right. Follow Sprague for approximately 1 mile. Turn right at light onto Division Ave. follow Division to M L K Jr. Way and turn right. Free parking at MultiCare Garage, West side of street, next to the Baker Center.

From Gig Harbor, Kitsap County
Eastbound on Hwy 16, exit at Sprague Ave. Continue per directions from Olympia.
