At UWMC, we know it is important to support every clinical conversation with our non-English-speaking patients and families with a qualified interpreter.

Day or night, any UWMC staff member may call Pacific Interpreters for a phone interpreter.

Instructions for UWMC Staff

      Call Pacific Interpreters at 800-311-1232, and give Access Code 111.

      Dual handset and speaker phones for this use are on the nursing units and available from UWMC Interpreter Services, 206-598-7947.

 

 

Language Cards

Language cards provide graphics and phrases in non-English languages to assist in communication between patients, families, and their care providers. Outpatient and inpatient versions for each language cover a wide variety of situations and needs.

Inpatient language cards are available in 10 languages:

         Amharic

         Chinese

         Farsi

         Japanese

         Korean

         Russian

         Somali

         Spanish

         Tagalog

         Vietnamese

Outpatient language cards are available in nine languages:
