Parkinson's Research: OTHER RESEARCH
Work by our collaborators

In our colleague
Dr. Jing Zhang's lab, they are using the study of proteins to help discover the molecular mechanisms in the body that lead to Parkinson's disease. Specifically, Dr. Zhang uses proteomics, a nonbiased comparison of all the proteins in a given system, to study biological samples from people with and without Parkinson's disease to track down proteins that are unique to the disease. It is hoped that characterization of these proteins will reveal new markers that clinicians can use to assist with the diagnosis of Parkinson' disease and monitor disease progression, as well as yield new therapeutic targets for the disease.
