Affiliations Pharmacists in the State of Washington have led the nation in developing innovative programs designed to benefit patients. Through joint efforts between the Washington State Pharmacy Association and faculty at the School, students and practitioners have been trained to provide the following services in community pharmacies: vaccination and prevention of childhood illnesses, influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia, osteoporosis and cholesterol screening, smoking cessation programs and management of chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure. These initiatives stress multi-disciplinary teamwork with other health providers and are aimed at promoting wellness, reducing health care costs and improving the quality of life. |
