Student Highlights


First national winner of Operation Immunization: The Nation's Pharmacy Students Protecting Public Health. After successfully completing a certification program, UW students administered approximately 20,000 immunizations to Puget Sound residents. Our chapter president was invited to describe this initiative at a national meeting sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

Students have been judged among the top ten teams in the nation in the (ASHP) American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Clinical Skills Competition two of the three years this contest has been conducted.

National first runner-up in their division for the Associated Students of Pharmacy Chapter Achievement Award.

National winner of the Rho Chi (national pharmacy honorary) Sustained Contribution Award and Competitive Theme Award.

Four students received a Merck/APhA (American Pharmaceutical Association) Student Project Grant for their proposal describing methods to implement osteoporosis screening and management programs in community pharmacies.

A UW student was one of ten students in the nation named as an American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Merck Scholar. His research findings were presented at the Association's annual meeting in Boston.

Students have also been selected to serve on a variety of national committees, including the APhA-ASP Standing Committee on Education, ASHP Council on Legal and Public Affairs and the Rho Chi National Council.

Community Service activities include:
