Prerequisites See a list of course descriptions of the prerequisites the School requires. This list is specific for four-year colleges and universities and community colleges in Washington State. Course lists are not available for out-of-state schools, but individual courses may be evaluated upon request. Please send a copy of course descriptions and syllabi to the Office of Academic and Student Programs for review. This list specifies which credits can be used towards prerequisites. Please note that applicants who would like to use AP or IB credit towards prerequisites should check this list. Washington State Community College Transfer to UW This list gives information on how courses taken at community colleges in the state of Washington transfer to UW.
**The total credits must equal or exceed this amount. Important Update for 2009 Admissions (Updated: June 2007) Prerequisite changes effective for application 2009 Humanities electives must include a "Speech Communications" or "Public Speaking" course (3-5 quarter credits or 3-4 semester credits). Biochemistry is not required but is highly recommended. For example, UW Biochem 405/406 or 440/441. • Require a minimum of 60 Semester or 90 Quarter college-level credits, to be completed by the end of the Spring term prior to admission • All science courses must include labs • Students who have not completed prerequisites may apply, provided they complete any remaining prerequisites by the end of Spring Term prior to program entry • *English Composition requirements may be met in one of the following ways: - Completion of two English Composition courses OR - Completion of one English Composition course and two Writing – Intensive courses OR - Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree • Please note that we will accept courses worth different numbers of credits if the course descriptions are equivalent to those listed on our website. |
