School of Pharmacy Priorities

Pharmacists are becoming one of the most accessible and most trusted allies in healthcare. Their ever-expanding role calls for diverse skills in pharmaceutical science, patient care, health informatics and business management.

The School of Pharmacy has earned a global reputation for training programs and community service that artfully blend these capabilities, extending pharmacists' reach to the frontlines of patient care. But we can do more. We know that we possess the ideas, expertise, and partnerships to take our profession in new directions. We will widen access to healthcare. We will transform the business of pharmacy. We will sway public policy.

Private gifts that support innovative practice initiatives and advanced pharmaceutical research are an investment in solutions to problems affecting us all:

  • Each year, about 60,000 Americans die of vaccine-preventable diseases.

  • Costs due to drug-related problems like errors, misuse, or dangerous interactions exceed $177 billion a year.

  • Diabetes afflicts 120 million people worldwide, and the World Health Organization estimates that number will skyrocket to 300 million by 2025.

  • By 2010, the number of community pharmacists will grow just 9% versus a 47% increase in the number of prescriptions dispensed.

Gifts to the School will support cutting-edge research programs. Together, our efforts will inform and guide the future of pharmaceutical care.
