Meeting the healthcare needs of the 21st
century requires the finest minds in pharmaceutical care and research.
The UW School of Pharmacy is fortunate to be recognized by top applicants
as the most innovative and sought after school in the nation. However,
whether a Washington resident or an international applicant, the availability
of financial support often plays a decisive role in a student’s
choice of schools.
Your scholarship and fellowship support enables the School to remain competitive
in recruiting top candidates and ensures that we accept and retain the
caliber of student able to undertake the challenge of leading pharmaceutical
care into the future.

Six years ago, Nicole
Miller was a pharmacy technician in Virginia and "fell in love
with pharmacy." Today, she's in her third year of UWSOP's PharmD
program and plans for a career in nuclear pharmacy. Like many of
her peers, Miller balances competing roles. She's a motivated student,
a mother of two small kids and a wife whose spouse is an ocean away.
At the start of her first year, her husband Christopher, an Army
topographical analyst, was posted in Germany. In his absence, extra
time with her kids is more important to Miller than ever. Scholarships
have eased financial pressure so she can work fewer hours and focus
on her family and school. As a Wal-Mart pharmacy intern, she gets
experience in pharmacy practice and patient counseling. As a student
liaison to the Washington State Pharmacy association, she helps
educate the school about current pharmacy issues. Miller admits
that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to be in school without
scholarship support, and she's grateful for the difference scholarships
have made to her and her family.
