Applicants who have not completed the pre-pharmacy requirements may apply for admission to the College of Arts and Sciences as pre-pharmacy majors provided they meet the minimum criteria for admission to the University, including two high school years or two college quarters of the same foreign language. School of Pharmacy applications are available from the Office of Academic and Student Programs. The School begins accepting applications beginning December 1. Students who are currently enrolled in classes should include Autumn quarter grades. All materials must be received by the application deadline (postmarked by February 1, 2003 for applicants intending to begin their program of study in the fall of 2002). After a preliminary review of the applications, the most qualified candidates are invited for an interview. Areas evaluated in the interview include motivation, clarity in oral and written communications, personal characteristics, critical thinking/decision making, and knowledge of the field of pharmacy and issues affecting health care. Candidates are ranked comparatively on criteria which include academic preparedness, effective communicative and interpersonal skills, cognitive skills and aptitude for the professional program. Admission is competitive. Students should be aware that there are more applicants than available positions and plan accordingly. University of Washington, School of Pharmacy,
