Are
you interested in doing a practicum in the Puget Sound area?
We have many sites and may be able to accomodate students from other
schools who wish to do one or more practicums in the Puget Sound area.
In order to do this, you will need to do the following:
Determine the time of year and length of time you will be in the area.
-
Identify the type of practicum (learning environment/subject
manner) and the general geographic location where you will be staying
Two important notes: we have no mechanism in place to find lodging
for students from outside the area; also note that we do not have
many of the traditional "externship" sites available: our sites are
set up to offer a "clerkship" style of practicum -- training with
an emphasis on cognitive services development, rather than an emphasis
on drug distribution.
Once you know this information, please contact your Experiential Education
Director. He or she will need to contact the Experiential Education
Director at the University of Washington and outline the time of year,
length of time, type of practicum (give several options if elective),
and general geographic area. Your Director can click below to send an
email:

Be aware that all of our students will be placed
before we place students from other schools. Our site matching
process will be complete by the end of May and at this time we will
place you if we have a site available that is of interest to you.
-
You will need to be registered as an intern in
the state of Washington in order to do practicums here. It is an easy
process and you will find the information on the home page for the
Washington State Board of
Pharmacy (choose the applications link).

Our site matches are usually confirmed by the end
of May.
