Community and Ambulatory Pharmacy Practice Residency Program

Site Descriptions

Community Care:

Kelley-Ross Pharmacy: Kelley-Ross Pharmacy has been serving the Pacific Northwest since 1925. Currently with five locations in Seattle, Kelley-Ross Pharmacy continues to serve the healthcare needs of the community. Each of the five locations plays a different role. The oldest store, the downtown site caters to professional downtown and specializes in compounding pharmacy. The Polyclinic site is an integral part of the clinic, and provides for many long time customers and sees many patents who are receiving new prescriptions. The Union Center mail order pharmacy caters to a large retired population and is the heart of the pharmacy's large medication therapy management program. The 2200 Westlake store is growing along with the Southeast Lake Union Neighborhood and has a diverse patient population of families, retired persons, and college students. The newest location, the Long Term Care pharmacy serves many of the nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area, that encompass geriatric, psychiatric and HIV medication therapies. The Long Term Care pharmacy integrates both new and tested compliance packaging technologies to meet the needs of the different facilities we serve. The Kelley-Ross Pharmacy Professional staff has evolved to ensure each of their patients receives optimum pharmacy care.

Ambulatory Care:

Valley View Clinical Pharmacists/Providence Everett Health System: VVCP has been providing pharmaceutical care services to the community of Monroe, just 45 minutes northeast of Seattle, since 1981.  The goal of the residency program is to produce an advanced clinical practitioner in the community-focused clinic pharmacy, who has a desire to gain clinical pharmacy skills necessary for disease-state management and drug-therapy management.

Many of the services offered at VVCP involves direct patient care and maintenance of growing relationships with clinic providers. As part of the Providence Everett Medical Center (PEMC) network, the clinic pharmacy enjoys a close relationship with the two PEMC hospitals in Everett located 15 miles away

The clinic pharmacy is a professional pharmacy that also provides drug therapy management and durable medical equipment. A consultation room offers privacy for clinical activities. Collaborative practice agreements include anticoagulation, diabetes management, immunizations, medication refills and other clinical services.

Steve Erickson, PharmD, RPh, is the residency preceptor. The resident will be an employee of the Providence Everett Health System, the predominant health system in North King County.
