MPH Degree Electives

Students may choose electives from PHG courses (in addition to those required for the MPH degree) and/or approved courses offered through other departments. Currently, more than 60 courses are available for electives.

Gaining Approval for Electives

Identifying new courses that are appropriate electives is encouraged. Elective courses that are not currently on the approved list must go through an electives approval process:

1. Review the PHG Competencies. All approved electives must relate to at least one PHG Competency.

2. Send an email request to Barb Snyder (bysnyder@u.washington.edu) describing the proposed elective course and how it relates to the PHG Competencies.

3. The IPHG Electives Reviewer will review the request and make a decision within 3 weeks. A course syllabus will occasionally be requested.
