Ph.D. Core Knowledge Areas:
Selectives
Students in their third year of the Ph.D. program are expected to take at least 9 credits of selective courses related to the core area chosen as the basis of their dissertations. The courses listed below, offered in several different departments, constitute a list of highly recommended classes available as selectives. However, the specific courses chosen by each student will depend on his or her particular interests, and some may come from outside this list. The selectives chosen must be approved by the student's Dissertation Supervisory Committee.
Ph.D. students may use the S/NS grading option for selective courses.
