Scott D. Ramsey, M.D., Ph.D.

With training in medicine and economics, Dr. Ramsey's primary research interest is in studying the economic aspects of new medical technologies. Dr. Ramsey has expertise in conducting cost-effectiveness studies alongside clinical trials, and in simulation modeling. He has directed economic studies of new therapies for osteoarthritis, heart disease, diabetes, emphysema, lung, colon, and prostate cancer. He also has training in genetic epidemiology, and currently has funding to estimate the cost-effectiveness of polymorphism screening to identify individuals at increased risk for colon cancer.

Dr. Ramsey is Director of Cancer Outcomes Research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. He also is on the Faculty of the School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, and the Institute for Public Health Genetics at the University of Washington. He lectures frequently at universities, the National Institutes of Health, pharmaceutical companies, and health insurers on topics related to cost-effectiveness in medicine.
