Welcome to the Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology Group (PMCB) at the University of Washington. We are interdepartmental group of faculty members at the Department of Biology, Microbiology, Genome Science, Forestry, and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Our research is directed toward solving problems in plant biology at the cellular and molecular levels, and integrating such knowledge into whole plant behavior. Among us you will find labs specializing in chromosome structure, gene function, biotechnology, genetics, development, signal transduction, physiology, and responses to the environment. Our labs are complementary and open to each other. We hope to attract students who will thrive in an interactive group. From our departments, students have access to excellent research programs including those in the School of Medicine. Students may be eligible for the NIH-funded Molecular and Cellular Biology and the Developmental Biology Training Grants, and by departmental funds including RA and TA positions.
