Rachel’s role at PNASH is as Research Coordinator for Dr Keifer’s projects. Before coming to Seattle for graduate school, Rachel worked in the Peruvian highlands organizing health and first aid trainings with Quechua porters on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Combined with her experience working with and learning from indigenous communities on the Costa Rican/Panamanian border on sustainable tourism initiatives, she became interested in the intersections of rural sustainable development and community health.  Her work experience in WA has been primarily on public health projects aimed at improving the health and well being of local immigrant communities.
