Abstract: The National Park Serivce and Portland State University will collaborate in the development of a Special History Study for the newly created Lewis and Clark National Historical Park located in the Columbia-Pacific region of Washington and Oregon. The resulting document will identify historic contexts and themes relevant to the properties and lands now encompassed by this new unit of the national park system, and will also identify properties associated with these themes that may be eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. National Register nominations will be prepared as part of this project. The entire project will include historical research, synthesis of materials into a readable narrative history, an inventory of associated properties (buildings, structures, sites, objects, districts) within the newly expanded park, and the preparation of National Register nomination forms for all properties that meet the standards for significance and integrity for National Register listing.
