Environmental Management Certificate Program

Application

Eligibility

All students enrolled in graduate and professional degree programs in any school of the University of Washington are eligible to apply to the Environmental Management Certificate Program.

Admission Requirements

Prior to admission, students must have completed a one quarter upper-level or graduate-level course in each of the following:

  1. applied quantitative methods (e.g., microeconomics, numerical modeling, applied statistical methods) or pure quantitative methods (e.g., mathematics or statistics); and 

  2. social or natural science. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

When to Apply

Applications for admission are reviewed on a rolling basis with four deadlines, therefore interested students are encouraged to apply early. Students may apply to the program prior to matriculation or at anytime during enrollment as a UW student, however, students must have completed at least one - and preferably two - core courses before enrolling in the Keystone Project course series.

Admission Application Procedures


Students are strongly encouraged to speak with the graduate coordinator prior to submitting their application. To contact the graduate coordinator please call (206) 221-6129, email envirmgt@uw.edu, or stop by the PoE offices in Wallace Hall, 3737 Brooklyn Ave.

To apply for admission, submit the application form (Word doc) and one (1) copy of the following documents to envirmgt@u.washington.edu:

  1. Letter of application (about 500 words, or 1-2 pages).  Your application letter should
    • describe how you expect the program will help you meet your academic and professional goals;
    • specify the course(s) that fulfill the admissions requirements specified above;
    • which academic year you would like to complete your keystone project
  2. Resume listing education and work experience
  3. Undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial copies of transcripts OK)
