Program on the Environment Academic Programs

PoE Student Jamie Stroble collects medicinal plants in Costa Rica as a part of her Capstone Project.

The Program on the Environment (PoE) offers undergraduates a major and minor in Environmental Studies. The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) with a major in Environmental Studies provides excellent training and preparation for a wide variety of careers or postgraduate studies. The Minor in Environmental Studies offers students in other majors increased knowledge of the biophysical and human dimensions of environmental issues.

Two graduate certificates, Environmental Management and Interdisciplinary and Policy Dimentions of Earth Sciences are offered by PoE and are open to students enrolled in graduate degree programs at the University of Washington. The Graduate Certificate curricula provides graduate students with opportunities to extend their understanding of environmental issues beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries. PoE does not offer graduate degree programs.
