Duke University Press does not offer an agency discount.

Guidelines for Electronic Submission of Ads
Please supply a hardcopy (laser print) of your ad along with the electronic copy. This will give us an opportunity to make sure the file has not been corrupted during transmission.

Depending on the application you are using, please include the fonts used in the ad. Specific instructions are included below. If your ad uses PostScript fonts, please send both the printer and the screen files for each font used in your ad.

If you wish to compress your files before sending them, please use self-extracting archives unless you are using Compact Pro or a Stuffit product.

The preparation of your ad depends on the application you are using to create the ad.

From Illustrator, Freehand, or other vector-based illustration applications:

Send your ad from these applications as an EPS file. Before saving your ad, convert your type to outlines (it won't be necessary to send the fonts in this case). This is crucial if you are working on a non-Macintosh operating system.

From QuarkXpress:
Use the "Save Page as EPS . . ." option under the File menu. Make sure that the choice next to OPI is "Include"; otherwise any TIFFs or EPSs that you have placed will not appear in this file. Please be sure to include your fonts when sending ads that have been prepared in this way.

From PageMaker:
Prepare your ad via the Print command. From the Print dialog select "Options." At the top of this dialog box tell PageMaker to send the image data as "Normal" and to transmit all the font information. In the middle of the box select "Write PostScript to File" and then select "EPS" immediately below that. Then click on the "Save as . . ." button. After you've indicated where to save the file, the Print dialog box will reappear. The top right button should now read "Save" instead of "Print." Click this button and you're finished.
