Chou, Managing Director for Wachovia Bank. This donation officially kicks-off the PRBP fund drive to raise $200,000 to establish a Scholarship Fund named after the founder of PRBP, Dr. Kermit O. Hanson. Once the goal has been met, annual scholarships will be given out to deserving applicants to PRBP in need of financial support. If you would like any additional information on this Endowment Fund, please contact Jennifer Lang at jclang@u.washington.edu.

Siti Fadjrijah is a graduate of PRBP in 2003. Back then, she entered the program as the Director of Bank Licensing and Banking Information. She is now the Deputy Govenor of the Central Bank of Indonesia. She has also been featured on the cover of the Islamic Business and Finance Magazine in February 2007. In her role, among many responsibilities, she will be working with the government and parliament to encourage the growth of Islamic banking at all levels.

“Pacific Rim Bankers Program provided me with an invaluable opportunity to work with prominent faculty and colleagues in the financial services industries from different countries. I gained informative insights into banking industry issues and challenges from the formal sessions, from the group assignments and from the informal exchanges and contacts with faculty and other participants. These networks and knowledge continue to influence my work in Bank Indonesia and the development of banking regulation and supervision in Indonesia --if I attended this program again, I am sure that I would learn new things as financial industries evolve rapidly” - Siti Fadjrijah

Jean Choy (Executive Director) and Jennifer Lang (Associate Director) of Executive Education, traveled to Asia this March and had the opportunity to tour several countries including: Taipei, Taiwan; Hong Kong; Jakarta, Indonesia; Seoul, Korea; Beijing, China; Manila, Philippines; Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Tokyo, Japan.

The main purpose of this annual trip is to promote and recruit for PRBP, to strengthen PRBP alumni relations, and to develop new, and strengthen existing Executive Education partnerships. Highlights of the trip included: numerous visits with various banks in Asia to discuss the value of PRBP, breakfast with PRBP prospects and alums in Manila; lunch with PRBP alums in Singapore; a PRBP Cocktail Reception in Jakarta with many alumni in attendance who discussed their support of the program. Some great connections were made and everyone was as helpful as they could be in every respect.

Special thanks to: Joan Hung, Karen Hung, John Hills, Roosniati Salihin, Gunawan Santoso, Ignatius Choong, David Li, San Srinivasan, Jim Ho, and Francis Albalate for all of their assistance during the Asia trip!
