Special MEDIC Meeting

Next Tuesday, MEDIC will host a discussion with Dr. Gail Van Norman—director of the UWMC pre-anesthesia and surgery clinic.  She is also an adjunct professor of the Bioethics and Humanities department, and chair of the standards and finance committee of the anesthesiology department at UW Medicine.  We are very excited to have Dr. Van Norman lead us in a discussion of ethics in anesthesiology—a subject she recently published a textbook on.  Dr. Van Norman’s clinical interests involve cardiac and transplant anesthesiology, preoperative preparation, and medical ethics in clinical practice, while her main research interest is in advanced directives.  This is a unique opportunity to experience the real world of medical ethics, as presented from a professional in the field.  Please join us Tuesday, February 15th in the Health Sciences Building T478 from 4:30-6:00pm.  This will be a meeting you won’t want to miss!

If you are interested in reading about the cases that Dr. Van Norman will be providing prior to our meeting on Tuesday, you can find that information on the GoPost: https://catalyst.uw.edu/gopost/conversation/medicuw/476938

As always, please respond to medicuw@u.washington.edu with any questions, comments or concerns you may have regarding MEDIC and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Also, visit http://students.washington.edu/medicuw/ for more information about MEDIC and how you can get involved.  If you’re unfamiliar with the Health Sciences Building, we will have directional signs posted to help you find the meeting room. Thank you and I hope to see you at the meeting this Tuesday!

Best,

Stan
