Volunteer Opportunity in Kenya

Did you know that most medical clinics in Kenya are understaffed and underfunded? Azma International is seeking volunteers to work in medical clinics and hospitals throughout Kenya. These programs are particularly suited for those volunteers who are interested in health issues and doing ‘hands on’ clinical work. Volunteer with Azma International and make a difference!

Poor living conditions, overcrowding, lack of sufficient running water, and undeveloped sewage systems have led to widespread diseases in slums and other parts of Kenya. With 80% of Kenyans living on less than $2 a day, people living in these communities lack access to proper health care. They rely on community clinics that lack both human and medical resources.

Azma International invites applications to participate in one of two volunteer programs in Kenya, offered during spring break and summer vacation 2012. Volunteers in this program have the opportunity to work in the areas of general medical practice, maternal health, minor surgery and laboratory work.

Volunteer work includes assisting doctors and staff in: 1) general medical practice 2) maternity care 3) pediatrics 4) therapy 5) suturing wounds 6) administrative duties 7) counselling and testing

Volunteer schedules are flexible and can vary depending on the needs of the placement.

Other volunteer opportunities in Azma International are: 1) Teaching 2) HIV/AIDS awareness 3) Child development in orphanages 4) Disabled care 5) Women’s empowerment 6) Sports education

Volunteering is a great way to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience using your skills to help others while building close relationships with your fellow students. We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity while spots are still available. We look forward to working with you!Come promote social justice in Africa, gain technical and intercultural skills, and get a glimpse of different career paths open to you. We invite you to help us fight the war against poverty! Check us out at www.azmainternational.org.

If you are unable to participate during spring break or summer but would still like to experience a volunteer trip to Kenya, we have programs available year-round. Visit us at www.azmainternational.org.

Thanks, Anne
