SARVA Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In honor of this, every April SARVA continues the campaign against violence with Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Activism Month! Here’s an overview of what will be happening over the next couple of weeks: The Clothesline Project April 15-19 // Haggett, Hansee, McCarty, McMahon, Poplar, & Terry Students make their feelings about sexual assault and relationship violence heard by writing their thoughts on items of clothing. Kink 101: Consent and Safe Exploration April 16 // 5:30pm // Denny 216 // FB Event Led by Allena Gabosch, director of the Center for Sex Positive Culture, this workshop will explore consent, boundaries, and safety using the approach of BDSM, as well as giving an introduction to kink. Moregasm: Babeland Workshop April 19 // 6-7pm // Savery 264 // FB Event Join SARVA, Planned Parenthood Votes, and Babeland to learn about how to be a better partner and get what you want out of sex! Topics include about boundary setting, safer sex, and communication. The Relationship Skills Class April 22 and 29 // 5:30-8:30pm // HUB 337 // FB Event Get the skills you need for the relationships you want! This class is open to all queer students and allies and is facilitated by the Northwest Network. Email saris@uw.edu to register. Silent Witness April 22-26 // HUB Walkways Silent Witness honors those who did not survive sexual assault or relationship violence by displaying their stories on silhouettes. Take Back the Night April 25 // 7pm // Ethnic Cultural Theater // FB Event Join us for a powerful open mic during which people may share their own stories, experiences, and feelings about sexual assault and relationship violence. Green Dot Bystander Training April 27 // 10am-4pm // Alder 107 Learn how to reduce the risk of violence in the moment, support survivors, and create a culture less tolerant of violence. Register online at tinyurl.com/sarvagreen. SARVA 5k Run/Walk May 5 // 8am // Rainier Vista // FB Event Join us for a 5k walk/run to raise awareness about sexual assault and relationship violence. There is no entry fee, but we strongly recommend bringing a donation for Lifewire. Please register online at tinyurl.com/sarva5k. All events are free, and all events but the Green Dot Bystander Training are open to community members as well as students.
