Hello AMSA Members, Your Monthly Dose is a monthly email that will be sent out to paying members which contains information on available opportunities. These new and exciting opportunities are included to provide unique experiences by which to further you in your pursuit of a career in medicine. Opportunities this month: 1) Our newly founded AMSA Research Exchange UW Chapter is currently seeking 2-3 committee members. Committee members will be working to create research exchange connections and to facilitate programs. Applications close Saturday, October 26th at 5pm. Hospice is a great way towards serving one of the weakest populations (the dying), personal growth and maturity, and exploring the existential/ethical realm of death and life. Who to contact: Melissa Lubatti (mrlubatti@evergreenhealthcare.org) 3) For those who are thinking of taking the MCAT within the next few years, Kaplan is featuring their Free Practice Test on Saturday, November 2nd from 11am-3pm in the Law School. They will be holding practice MCAT, LSAT, and GRE exams, as well as additional opportunities for DAT, PCAT, OAT, and GMAT in the Classroom Anywhere environment. This a wonderful opportunity to get a feel for what the MCAT is really like! Their Medical Scribes assist directly with a physician team in a hospital to effectively and efficiently compile and complete detailed electronic medical records/patient charts. Scribes STAT, Inc. is looking to hire and train Medical Scribes to work in the dermatology clinic at Minor and James in Swedish First Hill and West Seattle Swedish Physicians clinic. The program integrates academic learning with hands-on experiences in order to equip a new generation of agrarians and food justice activists to rebuild our global food system. Participants will learn through hands-on community-led projects and explore challenges for small-scale farmers in Peru through the lens of ancestral knowledge, recent innovations, and cross cultural collaboration.
