​​​​​​​UW Medicine’s 2016 Mini-Medical School is a thought-provoking lecture series about medical issues of the day, looking across education, research and clinical care at UW Medicine.

7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, February 2 through March 8, 2016

Attendance is free, but registration by January 29 is required.

Topics will include:

February 2: Creating a cancer care map

Learn about current tools and resources available to physicians and patients to develop comprehensive cancer treatment plans.

February 9: What’s bugging your stomach

The gut is a complex system that makes a big impact on overall health. Find out more about the environment in your gut and some of the conditions that disrupt healthy functioning.

February 16: Modern maladies

From malaria to the non-infectious, what diseases impact our world?

February 23: Getting patients and docs on the same page

Hear about technological advancements in OpenNotes and telehealth, which allow patients and doctors to share information in new ways.

March 1: Coping with the most serious illnesses

Discover the difference between palliative and terminal illness care, as well as techniques for coping with chronic conditions whether you or a loved one is afflicted.

March 8: Rural Medicine

Find out about WWAMI curriculum updates and new partnerships that will ensure tomorrow’s rural doctors are prepared for new challenges.
