The Husky Leadership Initiative (HLI) is a cross-campus effort that facilitates, deepens and expands student leadership education both in and outside the classroom. HLI is committed to supporting students’ leadership development journeys as they cultivate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to be effective change agents and contributing members in their communities. We believe that collaboration amongst the many leadership education efforts across campus will collectively strengthen our ability to make student leadership education more accessible, explicit and comprehensive. The Husky Leadership Initiative (HLI) currently seeks faculty and staff members to serve on the 2016-2017 Husky Leadership Initiative project committees. HLI committee members develop programming and provide logistical support for one of the major Husky Leadership Initiative efforts. Committee members will work alongside UW faculty, staff and students and can expect a 1-2 hour per week volunteer commitment during the 2016-2017 academic year.
Responsibilities for HLI committee members include:
- Commit to one HLI project committee (U Lead We Lead, Leadership Firesides, Husky Spring Training, Husky Leadership Certificate, Emerging Leaders Retreat, or Curricular leadership education).
- Attend project committee meetings. Some project committees meet every two weeks for one hour during the entire academic year while others meet weekly for several months around the timing of the committee’s program. Specific committee meeting times will be determined once committee membership is finalized.
- Support planning and implementation, logistics, marketing/promotion and assessment of project (see committee descriptions for more detail).
- Optional: Attend twice a quarter Husky Leadership Initiative full committee meetings to provide input and feedback on current and future HLI events, programs, and initiatives. Full committee meetings will be scheduled on Friday mornings from 8:30-10 a.m.
