Northwest

Northwestern Washington is known for its artist communities, whale watching in and around the San Juan Islands, the annual Tulip Festival in Skagit, and Chuckanut Drive, the first state route intended to serve primarily as a scenic drive.

UW has established a number of student outreach programs in the region, as well as rural medicine training sites (including sites which specifically serve Native American communities); UW faculty and students, particularly in the College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences, have also established research programs in the area.

Since 1990, the University of Washington, Bothell has served the central Puget Sound region with educational programs designed for a range of students: from place-bound adults returning to complete their education, to traditional-age students transferring from community colleges. UWB offers bachelor's and master's degree programs.
