Research Scientist - Statistics
We are seeking a hands-on, driven, well-organized professional with commercial software development experience in computational mathematics, statistics, and data analysis. This individual will have the primary responsibilities to assist in the development of statistical and mathematical algorithms for data analysis and for assisting contract research projects to successful completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of algorithms for mixed-effects models, and statistical methods for analyzing longitudinal data, survival data, and missing data.
- Actively participate in the research department performing algorithm and code development in C/C++ and S-Plus and data analysis.
- Create company and contract compliant deliverables through individual contributions.
- Assist in grant writing to external funding agencies such as NIH or various DoD agencies.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Education and Training: M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- A strong background in multivariate calculus, linear algebra, numerical analysis, statistical algorithms, and data analysis.
- Minimum three years commercial software development work experience, including knowledge of the C, C++ computer languages; Windows and Unix development platforms; defect tracking systems; configuration management; and source control management such as cvs or Perforce.
- Demonstrated work experience with S-Plus or R.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, as demonstrated by technical publications or conference presentations.
