Position Sum
The
Statistical Modeling Lead will provide direction to Statistical Modeling staff,
along
with
analytical, sampling, and modeling support to multiple business areas including
market
research,
consumer lending, investments, deposits and loss management. He/she will be
accountable for:
•Leadership
of Statistical Modeling department
•Conducting
necessary coaching/mentoring and development of staff
•Designing
the analytic framework for solving the problem
•Using
programming skills to extract the proper data from a variety of systems
•Manipulating
the data using statistical tools to perform strategic analysis and developing
high
quality
models which solve the business problem
•Presenting
findings and making recommendations on how to best use the output.
Key
Responsibilities
•Combines
advanced statistical techniques, direct business experience and computer
programming skills
to analyze business problems, create solutions and make clear
business
recommendations.
•Designs,
evaluates, and implements statistical models for direct marketing campaigns,
risk management and
loss projection.
•Provides
sampling support for marketing research and operational excellence surveys.
•Uses a
variety of programming languages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, SQL, etc…) as necessary to
manipulate data from
different systems.
•Provides
in-depth analysis on business problems and applies advanced mathematical and
statistical
principles to the complex research and development-related projects.
•Performs
other tasks as required.
Qualifications
Strong
education and experience in statistical modeling, and ability and desire to
lead a team
in
addition to conducting modeling as an individual contributor. Experience with financial
services
or closely related industry. The
successful candidate will be able to bring state of the
art
techniques to bear on challenging business problems, and be able to identify
and communicate
key
drivers to our business partners.
•Ph. D in
statistics, math, economics or equivalent quantitative field is required.
Master's degree
with significant
work experience will be considered.
•3+ years
previous work experience managing in analytics and modeling environments
is strongly
preferred.
•Proficient
in SAS/SPSS and proven experience with SQL for data extraction.
•Work
experience with data warehouse and extremely large data sets.
•Excellent
verbal and written communication skills.
•Outstanding
interpersonal and customer service skills.
