DINNER AND PRESENTATION
The Bioconductor Project
Patrick Aboyoun.
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
Abstract:
Bioconductor, a free,
open source and open development software project based on the R
statistical software platform, is designed to analyzegenomic data
generated by wet lab experiments in molecular biology. As its name suggests, its primary goal is to move
experiment-generated genomic data
through an analysis pipeline using cutting edge statistical and graphical methods and publicly-available
biological metadata. The project,
which started in the Fall of 2001, had initially established itself as the premiere analysis platform for finding
differential gene expression in
microarray studies and has since grown into providing Gene Set Enrichment Analysis, genomic sequence analysis,
flow cytometry, and protein
interaction tools. This talk will provide a high-level overview of the Bioconductor project and the statistical and
biological problems it addresses.
