Communications

Chair: Robert Corbett

The Communications Committee is responsible for issuing the newsletter to inform the membership of the activities of the organization and for maintaining the PSO Web site. It is also responsible for maintaining the uniformity, consistency, and quality of all PSO publications. Subcommittees include Outreach and Website. Events and Programs

Co-Chair: Deci Evans

Co-Chair: Carmen Cook

This group is responsible for planning and holding PSO's two campus-wide biannual meetings as well as other occasional informational meetings. We are currently in need of volunteers. Contact the chair to volunteer for a specific meeting or to join the working group.

Finance

Chair: Hollye Keister

The Finance Committee is responsible for monitoring PSO's financial activity, providing regular reports regarding the organization's financial condition, and preparing the annual budget for review and adoption by the Board of Directors. The Committee also provides advice and other financial information as required by the Board. We welcome volunteer members. To participate or for more information contact the committee chair.

Legislative

Chair: Alex Bolton

The Legislative Committee advises the PSO Board on legislative issues affecting professional staff and higher education in general. It coordinates with and receives information from the UW State Relations Office creates and maintains a PSO legislative "white paper" with identified concerns, goals, and strategies; and coordinates visits with state legislators. Outreach and Membership Engagement

This subcommittee of Communications is responsible for encouraging 1) participation in PSO activities by members, 2) professional development of members, 3) collegiality among members, and 4) interaction with other professional staff groups outside the UW campus. ProStaff Award

Scholarship and Professional Development

Chair: Nadine Gruhn

The Scholarship and Professional Development Committee receives all applications for scholarships from individuals and for professional development grants from UW professional staff organizations and groups. The scholarships are for educational activities to foster members' professional development. The professional development grants are to support classes, programs, speakers, and so on that contribute to the professional development of UW professional staff.

The committee evaluates applications, selects recipients, and keeps related records. To participate or for more information contact the committee chair.

Website

Chair: Suzy Hunter

This committee handles PSO website issues and manages content. Work to redesign the site was done from January 2008 to February 2009. The goal was and continues to be improvement of navigation, easy access to resources and an attractive repository of relevant materials for professional staff at the University of Washington.
