PSO Activities
PSO is a
volunteer organization. We are fortunate to have a talented and experienced
membership. Much of PSO’s business is managed
by committees of professional staff members. We invite you to participate
in our mutual efforts to represent to the University and the broader
community the interests of the professional staff.
Communication
The biannual newsletter reports
PSO activities, legislative updates, and information of concern to professional
staff. To submit items to the newsletter, e-mail the Communications
Committee.

Informational Meetings
PSO keeps
professional staff informed about the University’s plans through two
annual meetings, in the spring and fall, and occasional brown bag presentations
See our events page for up-coming meeting times
and topics. To help plan or volunteer for the meetings, contact the
Special Events and Programs Committee.
Legislative
Efforts
PSO communicates with state
legislators and provides regular updates on issues. PSO members testify
at hearings and meet with various state senators, representatives, and
their staffs in Olympia. These efforts are coordinated by the PSO Legislative
Committee.
Professional
Development and Scholarship Programs
The PSO advocates for and
supports educational and professional development programs for professional
staff members. Through its Scholarship Program PSO offers grants of
up to $250 per person per year to be used for full or partial cost of
professional development opportunities offered through the UW or other
organizations. Go to our Scholarship
Program page to learn more about this.
Representation
PSO representatives meet
regularly with UW administrators to provide input on issues of concern.
PSO members serve on general and special
University committees. PSO representatives
also participate in faculty committees.
