Minor in Classics and Ancient History
The minor in Classics and Ancient History is a collaborative effort between the Classics Department and History. This joint minor is not available to students pursuing majors or other minors in the Classics Department. Such students who have an abiding interest in ancient History are encouraged to pursue a full minor in History. History majors are permitted to complete this minor.
Declaring the Minor
To apply for a minor you must have completed at least 90 college credits. You should declare the minor through your major department. Unless you are a History major, you are not required to contact the History Undergraduate Advising Office in order to pursue the minor, although we would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the minor or our courses.
To complete a minor in Classics and Ancient History students must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- 30 credits of courses selected from the list below, with at least 10 credits from each department.
- A minimum of 20 of the 30 credits must be in the upper division (300-400 level). Fifteen of these 20 credits must be taken at the UW.
