The Puget Sound Writing Project
an affiliate of the National Writing Project
The Puget Sound Writing Project:
- Supports professional and personal growth in the teaching of writing in all disciplines
- Creates a network of teachers who share their successes
- Develops a community of teachers who are writers
- Works with educators to improve the writing of Washington state students at all levels
Over 32 years, the Puget Sound Writing Project has become the University of Washington's single most
successful humanities based K-12 partnership.
The PSWP offers an Invitational Institute and an Open Institute for all teachers interested in writing
and the teaching of writing, and Young Writers Workshops for students in grades 6-8 and 9-12 and
onsite workshops in partnership with schools and districts.
The Puget Sound Writing Project is co-sponsored by the University of Washington's Department of English and College of Education, and by the
National Writing Project. Community partners include Seattle Arts & Lectures, Powerful Schools and Hugo House.
