Teacher Learning Communities

Teacher Learning Communites (TLC) are groups of 3-5 teachers that work together to support writing and accomplish one of the following:
  • Mentoring new teachers
  • Organizing research study groups--study types of teaching and incorporating findings in classroom lessons
  • Accomplishing Action Research Projects within classrooms
  • Creating conversations and designing strategic teaching plans about a topic (linguistic diversity, interdisciplinary instruction, whole language vs. phonics, writing in the disciplines, assessment, etc.)
  • Establishing writing/publishing groups--professional writing, writing about our teaching lives, personal writing. Time to write and send work to be published.
Teacher Learning Communities are eligible for stipends of up to $500 for each facilitator OR up to a $500 mini-grant for the entire group. Facilitators must be Fellows of the Invitational Institute of the Puget Sound Writing Project, or TCs from other NWP sites who now live in the Puget Sound region.

Funding cycles last for one year; each group must meet for at least 24 hours during the course of the funding cycle. Groups will be expected to report every other month to a PSWP facilitator, and write a report of activities/results in an article for the PSWP Addendum.

To apply, send the following information in a single envelope:
