Salary

Salary levels are established annually by the University of Washington President and Board of Regents. The 2008-2009 stipends for all residents in University of Washington residency programs are:  

	R5	$55,032
	R6	$57,012

Vacation

Residents receive three weeks of paid vacation per academic year which is non-cumulative.

Sick Leave

Residents receive twelve days of sick leave per academic year. Sick leave is cumulative throughout the residency program.

Fringe Benefits

Eligible residents may choose one of seven medical insurance plans from the University of Washington's Basic Insurance Package for which the University and the Resident share the cost of insurance premiums. Residents may also select one of three dental insurance plans for which the University pays the entire insurance premium. This package also provides for optional additional life, accidental death and dismemberment, and disability insurance that may be purchased by the individual. The package is designed and authorized by the Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB).
Eligible residents are also entitled to enroll in the UW Retirement Plan (UWRP) on their first day of residency. The UW provides 100% matching funds to the resident's own contributions. In addition, residents have the option of participating through the University of Washington Voluntary Investment Program (VIP). Taxes on contributions through the VIP program are tax deferred according to the provisions of this 403(b) program. Professional Liability Insurance is provided to all residents under a University of Washington Master Policy for all approved activities associated with residency training. Residents are entitled to staff privileges at the University of Washington including the use of libraries, on-line services, the Intramural Activities Building, and reduced prices on tickets for some sports and cultural activities.
