The Resident Group

Currently, there are 64 residents in the program, including 11 in the
Spokane Track and 4 in our new Idaho Track. The residents represent a
wide range of interests, both within and outside medicine, and many have
had prior training or careers in other fields.
Resident
feedback is very important in improving the program and maintaining an
excellent training environment. Residents have an active voice within
the program and the department through twice-monthly business meetings
and participation in the Resident Education Steering Committee, Admissions
Committee, Curriculum Committee, Psychotherapy Workgroup, and Night Call
Committee. Resident activities also include a variety of social occasions,
including a New Resident party, Post-Medicine party, and fall overnight
retreat.
Many
of our residents have been active in a variety of academic and service
organizations. Recent resident awards have included the NIMH Outstanding
Resident Award, American Psychoanalytic Association Fellowship, Eli Lilly
Biological Psychiatry Travel Award, APA/Glaxo-Wellcome Fellowship, APA/Bristol
Myers Squibb Fellowship, Laughlin Fellowship, Association for Women Psychiatrists
Travel Award, NIDA Travel Award, the John Spiegel Fellowship from the
Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture, and the Ginsberg-AADPRT/Charter
Fellowship.
