This 6 week Psychiatry & Behavior Sciences clerkship provides both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric experiences. Students have primary responsibility under supervision of attending psychiatrists and residents for diagnosis and care of patients at UWMC, HMC, and VAMC (Seattle), Fairfax Hospital (Kirkland), Providence St. Peter Hospital (Olympia), Alaska Psychiatric Institute (Anchorage), Bartlett Regional Hospital (Juneau), VA (Boise), Portneuf Medical Center (Pocatello), Sacred Heart Medical Center (Spokane), Wyoming Behavioral Institute (Casper), Behavior Health Services, CRMC, Cheyenne, AWARE, INC (Helena), St. Patrick's (Missoula), or South Central Regional Clinic (Billings). See Course descriptions by site. Acute inpatient, emergency room, crisis intervention, consultation and familiarity with psychopharmacology is emphasized. Some child and/or geriatric psychiatry exposure may be offered at certain sites.
