CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS
Overall objectives are to understand the mechanisms of airway inflammation and infection in cystic fibrosis (CF). The CF gene product, CFTR, leads to airway inflammation though a series of abnormalities, including hypertonicity of periciliary fluid encouraging bacterial growth, altering airway adhesion molecules, and altering a variety of intracellular protein trafficking. She is also involved in Phase I and II clinical trials and in epidemiological studies of CF.
